Q: What inspired you to create Oath & Grind, and how does it reflect your vision of a balanced, healthy lifestyle?A: Oath & Grind (O/G) is my mantra for living a balanced, healthy, and happy life. Your %u201cOath%u201d is a promise to yourself, practiced daily to shape how you move through the world. The %u201cGrind%u201d is the action needed to make your oath a reality. I started O/G to share what I%u2019ve learned with others aiming to be healthy, happy, and beautiful in the back half of life. It began as a way to pay for my competition bikinis and travel for WBFF competitions, and it%u2019s evolved over nine years. Every time I consider retiring, someone tells me how O/G has changed their life!Q: You earned your WBFF Fitness Pro Card at 50, which is incredibly inspiring. What motivated you to enter competitive fitness?A: I was diagnosed with lupus the same year my mother passed away. I found that movement helped me feel better, starting with yoga, then Pilates, and eventually weight lifting. My trainer saw my transformation and suggested competing at 45. I got hooked on the feeling I had in the gym. It was %u201cme time%u201d with a positive outcome. I still lift six days a week, even if I%u2019m not competing.Q: How has your fitness journey impacted your outlook on life and leadership?A: I learned it%u2019s never too late to start something new. I feel like my best years are ahead. My kids laugh because we don%u2019t make New Year%u2019s resolutions%u2014we make new experiences to share on our holiday card!
