Born Laurence%u2014a French name often mistaken for male in her adopted South Africa%u2014Lollo chose to embrace her childhood nickname. It%u2019s a fitting reflection of her playful, adventurous spirit and the unique lens through which she views the world.French by birth and Italian by upbringing, Lollo has traveled the globe but found her heart firmly anchored in Cape Town, where she has lived since 1996. A lover of life, the ocean, and all its creatures, her photography captures the unseen connections that weave through nature and humanity. %u201cThere%u2019s beauty in everything,%u201d she says. %u201cIt%u2019s ancient, powerful, and always there%u2014we just need to notice it.%u201dLollo%u2019s passion for photography was sparked in her Milanese childhood, where her godfather, renowned photojournalist and fashion photographer Nino Leto, introduced her to the magic of storytelling through the lens. Growing up amidst Milan%u2019s vibrant 1980s and %u201990s fashion scene shaped her artistic sensibilities, though her love for the ocean initially led her to dream of becoming a marine biologist. Today, she balances her dual passions for the sea and photography, often splitting her time between surfing the waves and capturing them.It wasn%u2019t until the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 that Lollo began using photography as a therapeutic outlet for personal loss. What started as a deeply personal journey quickly blossomed into a professional pursuit.
