Q: In 2022, you made the decision to hire your first coach. What led you to take that step, and how has having a coach impacted your fitness goals?A. I decided that if I was going to take it seriously, the first thing I needed to do was hire a coach. That decision was instrumental in my journey. My coach, Angela Rutherford with Fit Body Fusion, first took me into a building phase. For about eight months, we focused on increasing my calories and training intensely to build more muscle.Q: As a mother to a 13-year-old son, Kain, how do you manage to balance the demands of motherhood with your passion for bodybuilding?A. I have a very flexible schedule. I own and operate a small real estate firm, so I make my own schedule and work from home a lot. Also, my son is pretty self-sufficient with most things. Now that he%u2019s 13, he gets himself to and from school and football practice, which helps a lot! Another thing that helps me balance motherhood is having a very predictable routine. Both of us know exactly what%u2019s happening on any given day. If you want to juggle bodybuilding and a life outside of it, having a routine and good time management is extremely important! Q: Growing up on Oahu, how has the island lifestyle influenced your approach to fitness, family, and living a balanced life?A. The great thing about living in Hawaii is the weather! We have good weather pretty much year-round, so I never feel the urge to stay indoors or be sedentary. There are so many outdoor activities to do here to stay active, like going to the beach or hiking. I also do most of my low-intensity cardio outside, just walking around Honolulu. I know I%u2019m very lucky to live here.Photography by GEORGE KONTAXISMOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 63 45
