Q: What are your top three tips for someone just starting their fitness journey? My top three tips are: stay consistent, don%u2019t give up, and set small goals that lead to achieving your bigger goal. Consistency is crucial for seeing progress, so finding a routine that works for you and sticking to it is essential. Understand that setbacks can happen, but it%u2019s important not to give up. Each day presents a new opportunity to make progress towards your goals. Setting small goals helps build momentum and provides a sense of accomplishment, making the journey to your larger goal less daunting and more achievable.Q: What are some common fitness challenges that people typically face?As clients progress in their fitness journey, their commitment grows, leading to lifestyle changes. This often results in a lack of support from friends and family, as clients no longer drink or eat the way they once did. Their priorities shift towards health and wellness, which can create resistance from those closest to them. Clients may feel a sense of guilt during this phase, but I remind them that prioritizing their health is not selfish. Taking care of oneself allows individuals to be the best versions of themselves, positively impacting their relationships. My role as a trainer includes providing emotional support and motivation, helping clients navigate these challenges and stay committed to their goals.Q: What role does nutrition play in your fitness programs, and what dietary advice do you typically offer?RTG Fitness started solely as a nutrition service. Today, almost every new client receives a meal plan alongside their training plan after a consultation. Recognizing the significant impact of nutrition on fitness goals, I%u2019ve integrated meal planning as a crucial component of clients%u2019 fitness journeys. As the saying goes, %u201cnutrition is 80 percent of the battle.%u201d By prioritizing both training and nutrition, RTG Fitness ensures clients receive a well-rounded approach to their wellness, setting them up for sustainable and long-term success.Q: How do you help clients set realistic goals and track their progress?Setting both short-term and long-term goals is essential in a fitness journey. Attainable goals allow individuals to track their progress and stay motivated. I measure body fat, muscle mass, and weight on a weekly basis, adding a sense of accountability and helping clients stay on track. This data provides valuable insights, allowing for adjustments in training and nutrition plans to optimize progress. Combining goal-setting with regular measurements is a powerful tool for success.Q: What have you learned from training clients over the years that you wish more people knew? Many people are intimidated by the gym, which prevents them from getting started. Creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere is key to helping individuals feel comfortable and empowered on their fitness journey. By instilling confidence in each client, they can fully enjoy the process of working towards and achieving their goals. Providing a safe and welcoming space where clients can focus on their health and wellness without feeling intimidated makes a significant difference in their overall experience and success.Q: What are your future goals, both personally and professionally? My goal is to open my own gym in the near future. This endeavor would be incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally. By establishing my own fitness facility, I can create a supportive and inclusive environment that reflects the values and philosophy of RTG Fitness. It will allow me to expand my impact, reach a larger audience, and make a positive difference in the lives of many individuals looking to improve their health and well-being.102 MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 49
