EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH SOL ROMEROQ: You are a multi-talented actress and international recording artist. What got you into music?I%u2019ve loved music ever since I was a little girl. I used to compete with my brother on who could sing the best, so it was always in the family. I also studied opera in private lessons with the director of the conservatory of Mexico City.Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?I love music that has a deep meaning and a cool beat. I love messages of love and sorrow. The song can be happy or sad, as long as it has a cool beat and is interesting musically. Q: Who%u2019s your ideal musician or producer to collaborate with and why? I love Celine Dion. I also love Nana Mouskouri, and Barbara Streisand. As for producers, I love Humberto Gatica, whom I%u2019ve worked with, and RedOne.Q: Can you tell us about your new single Goe Party?%u201cGoe Party%u201d is a really cool song that has a similar vibe to an older single of mine, %u201cTurn it Up,%u201d which previously made the top ten on the Swiss charts. I%u2019m very excited for you all to hear it!Q: Who produced it?I produced it with Jake Jones, who is an awesome, two-time Grammy nominated recording engineer. We also worked with a Russian producer.Q: What advice would you give to aspiring musicians looking to break into the music scene?I would tell them to follow what they love and what suits their voice. This will help them find their genre. Q: How and when exactly did you realize you had the passion for acting?I realized it at about the same time I realized I loved music. I had to do a show-and-tell as a young kid in school, and I did a little performance where I sang, danced and acted. I won first place and fell in love with it. It was allso much fun!Q: Tell us about your experience acting in the James Bond movie Casino Royale? It was a really fun experience because it was actually how I met my husband, Martin Campbell, the film%u2019s director. One day, I showed up late but he didn%u2019t get upset, he just directed his anger toward everyone else. It was funny, but at the same time, I felt so bad because I didn%u2019t want everyone else to hate me!Q: What are your long-term acting career goals?I love super dramatic jobs. I would love to play an old Victorian, Shakespearean role one day. But, in the meantime, you guys will soon see me in a very comedic role in the upcoming film %u201cCleaner,%u201d opposite Daisy Ridley.70 MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 45
