MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 8025MOSTMAGAZINE Q: YOU HOLD DEGREES IN BOTH DENTISTRY AND PSYCHOLOGY%u2014TWO FIELDS SEEMINGLY FAR REMOVED FROM PHOTOGRAPHY. DO THESE BACKGROUNDS INFLUENCE YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS IN ANY WAY?A: I wish they all intertwined more! Unfortunately, the best thing dentistry gave me was time%u2014it allowed me to discover something that brings me more joy. Psychology definitely made me better at connecting with people and making them feel safe and comfortable during photo shoots. Q: YOUR WORK HAS BEEN FEATURED IN MAJOR PUBLICATIONS LIKE THE SUNDAY TIMES, DIE ZEIT, AND FRANKIE. IS THERE A PARTICULAR EDITORIAL THAT FELT LIKE A TURNING POINT IN YOUR CAREER?A: It%u2019s difficult to pinpoint a specific moment, as everything happened rather quickly. I got offered collaborations with a few brands that led to other projects, but I think releasing my first photo book made me realize this might actually be a career for me. It was physical proof that this is the right mode of expression for me.Q: YOUR LATEST BOOK, INTRUDER, EXPLORES THEMES OF INTIMACY AND IDENTITY. WHAT INSPIRED THIS PROJECT, AND WHAT DO YOU HOPE READERS TAKE AWAY FROM IT? A: It%u2019s a game of hide and seek between me and the viewer, but also a mirror reflecting how comfortable we feel with ourselves and the world around us.Q: YOUR WORK HAS BEEN SHOWCASED IN GROUP EXHIBITIONS WORLDWIDE. HOW DOES SEEING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY IN A GALLERY SETTING DIFFER FROM EXPERIENCING IT IN A MAGAZINE OR BOOK?A: Speaking from an introvert%u2019s perspective, I find books and magazines to be more intimate%u2014they create a unique bond with the viewer. Exhibitions, on the other hand, set a different environment, which I often find overwhelming.
