MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 71 51MOSTMAGAZINEMOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 71Q: FROM THE RUNWAY TO JEWELRY DESIGN%u2014WHAT INSPIRED YOUR TRANSITION FROM FASHION MODELING TO CO-FOUNDING MAYA DAVID?A: Fashion has always been a huge part of my life, and modeling gave me the opportunity to travel the world, work with incredible creatives, and develop a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail. Jewelry has always spoken to me. After losing sentimental pieces in a break-in, I started creating my own, and something just clicked. I loved the idea of making jewelry that not only looked beautiful but also carried meaning, energy, and a personal connection. Co-founding Maya David with Dave felt like a natural extension of everything I love%u2014style, creativity, and storytelling. Now, instead of just wearing pieces I love, I get to design them and share them with others. It%u2019s been such a rewarding process, and honestly, we%u2019re just getting started!Q: HOW HAS YOUR GLOBAL TRAVEL EXPERIENCE INFLUENCED YOUR APPROACH TO DESIGN AND CREATIVITY?A: Traveling has shaped my entire creative perspective. Experiencing different cultures%u2014from Europe to Asia to the U.S., sometimes for months at a time%u2014has given me a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and design. Those influences naturally find their way into Maya David. I love weaving little bits of my travels into our pieces, creating jewelry that feels both personal and inspired by the world. It%u2019s like carrying a piece of those experiences with me and getting to share them with others. Q: MAYA DAVID PIECES ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR TIMELESS APPEAL. WHAT ELEMENTS DO YOU BELIEVE MAKE JEWELRY TRULY TIMELESS?A: To me, timeless jewelry is more than just an accessory%u2014it%u2019s the piece you reach for over and over again because it holds meaning and fits effortlessly into your life. Trends come and go, but the pieces that feel personal, that carry a story or an emotion, are the ones that last. Whether it%u2019s a gemstone bracelet that brings you a sense of balance or a design that reminds you of a special moment, true timelessness is about connection. Q: YOU%u2019VE WORKED WITH SOME OF THE BIGGEST NAMES IN FASHION. WHAT LESSONS FROM MODELING HAVE HELPED YOU AS A BUSINESSWOMAN?A: Modeling has been the best crash course in adaptability%u2014one day, you%u2019re in a couture gown at sunrise, the next, you%u2019re sprinting through an airport with 10 minutes to catch a flight. It definitely taught me how to work under pressure, which, on some days, feels like a superpower%u2026 and on others, I just need a gym session, a sauna, and a cold plunge before I can function again! But the biggest lesson? To be confident and trust my gut. In both fashion and business, things don%u2019t always go as planned, so learning to pivot, trust my instincts, and keep going has been everything. And, of course, knowing how to pose a bracelet for the perfect shot definitely comes in handy now! Q: AS SOMEONE WHO HAS LIVED IN MULTIPLE COUNTRIES, WHERE DO YOU FEEL MOST CREATIVELY INSPIRED?A: That%u2019s a tough one! I feel most creatively inspired when I%u2019m traveling%u2014whether I%u2019m exploring a new city, taking in a breathtaking view, or revisiting places filled with memories. I adore Italy, especially ancient Rome with its rich history. Prague, with its grand monuments, cobblestone streets, and cozy mom-and-pop bakeries, always feels like home. And then there%u2019s the buzzing energy of Asia, especially Hong Kong, where I spent nearly six months modeling. Immersing myself in different cultures sparks new ideas every time%u2014it%u2019s like refilling my creative well. I love that feeling. Q: YOUR DESIGNS BLEND ELEGANCE WITH VERSATILITY. WHO IS THE MAYA DAVID CUSTOMER, AND WHAT DO YOU HOPE THEY FEEL WHEN WEARING YOUR PIECES?A: The Maya David customer values quality, meaning, and style%u2014but above all, they feel a personal connection to what they wear. I truly believe we%u2019re drawn to certain gemstones for a reason. My hope is that when someone finds a piece that resonates with them, they feel confident, aligned, and like the best version of themselves. When jewelry carries meaning, the good energy just flows.Exclusive Interview
