His relentless creativity, even in such limited circumstances, hinted at the immense talent waiting to be unleashed. However, life in Cuba held its challenges. Despite two failed attempts to leave the island, Oscar remained focused on his dream. His breakthrough came when he managed to leave Cuba via Mexico, as part of a musical performance group. He lived in Mexico for four years, further expanding his horizons, and in 2004, he finally made his way to the United States, determined to reunite with family members and pursue his career in fashion. Once in Miami, he wasted no time building a name for himself, one dress at a time. What set Oscar apart early on were his diverse artistic influences. His love for the arts extended beyond fashion, drawing inspiration from dance, ballet, music, and theater, which he seamlessly infused into his designs. This rich blend of cultural and artistic elements gave his creations a unique flair that consistently left audiences and clients wanting more. South Beach socialites, as well as high-society ladies from Palm Beach and New York, quickly became fans of his elaborate, statement-making gowns. His designs stood out not just for their boldness, but for their elegance and attention to detail, qualities that would soon catch the eye of the fashion industry on a much larger scale.MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 54 09
