In this interview, Lissa discusses her creative journey, the influence of science in her work, and her vision for her future art and fashion endeavors. You studied physics, chemistry, and biology in high school. How did your interest in science influence your art?Science has vividly influenced my art, particularly in how I explore and represent energy at a molecular level. I strive to convey the dynamic interplay of feminine and masculine energies, as well as energy forms in general. LISSA MELBridging Science and Art Through Creative ExpressionThis is often expressed through my use of color, such as yellow to symbolize certain energy forms. My scientific understanding helps me to create artwork that resonates with the underlying energies that shape our world. What prompted you to shift your focus from science to the arts?I have always been interested in both science and the arts. While my studies in high school included science, it was just one aspect of my broader educational journey. I find both fields fascinating and believe that art and science are inherently intertwined. They are equal parts of our everyday life, constantly influencing and enriching each other. Therefore, my focus didn%u2019t really %u201cshift%u201d from science to art, per se. I view it as seeing science within art, and vice versa. They are always part of each other in my work. Your art explores matter at a molecular level. Can you explain your creative process and how you translate these abstract concepts into visual art?Translating energy into visual art is indeed challenging because energy is something you feel rather than see. Everything is energy, and I try to convey this through my use of color and form. When depicting something divine or of a divine nature, I use bright, pastel, and natural colors that are harmonious and calming%u2014not something too bright or overly colorful. To represent the movement of energy, I use colors that convey transformation and dynamic flow, capturing the movement within the painting itself. Expressing energy in art is not always straightforward, and attempting to explain it can sometimes diminish its impact. Ultimately, energy in art must be felt to be truly understood. My pieces aim to evoke this feeling, creating an experience of energy fields through color and form.10 MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 55
