                                    Dr. Sunny Andrews: Wellness Olympian and Holistic Health AdvocateIG: @drsunnyandrewsIG:@drsunnyandrewsFrom her early years, Dr. Sunny Andrews has been driven by an intense competitive spirit, excelling both academically and athletically. A standout in soccer and track, she competed at the national level before earning dual Bachelor%u2019s degrees in Anthropology and Fashion Design, with a minor in Bioethics, from Michigan State University. Her love for learning led her to work as an orthopedic technician while studying for a Master%u2019s in Biomedical Sciences at Oakland University and preparing for her MCAT.Her journey continued at an American-accredited medical school in St. Maarten, where the island lifestyle fueled her passion for fitness. Between medical studies, she found solace in weightlifting, dramatically transforming her physique from 95 lbs to 115 lbs. Immersing herself in training resources like BodyBuilding.com, Dr. Andrews became captivated by the science of bodybuilding. When she returned to the U.S. for her clinical rotations, the rising popularity of bodybuilding caught her attention. Inspired by the physiques of women competing in the sport, she knew she had the genetic potential to succeed.In April 2018, during her third year of medical school, Dr. Andrews entered her first WBFF competition and won her Pro Card. Alongside her personal successes, she helped her brother lose 100 lbs and began coaching others, guiding some of her clients to earn their own Pro Cards. Yet, the WBFF journey left her wanting more, pushing her to explore new opportunities.Graduating from medical school in 2019, Dr. Andrews embarked on research fellowships at the University of Florida and Mayo Clinic while continuing her bodybuilding journey. She soon found a new path in the NPC/IFBB league. In 2020, after completing a grueling 24-hour trauma surgery shift, she drove straight to the NPC Nationals and earned her IFBB Pro Card. Her meteoric rise continued, and by 2021 she had earned her first Olympia qualification, secured 6th place in her Olympia debut, placed 3rd at the Arnold, and took home wins at the prestigious New York and Pittsburgh Pro shows.While her 2022 Olympia showing didn%u2019t go as planned, Dr. Andrews remained undeterred. Shifting her focus to her medical specialty, she re-applied for residency, eventually landing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. 2023 marked a year of personal and professional growth, as she revamped her physique and settled into life in Miami. Under the guidance of her coach, Chris Gurulian, she captured victory at the Chicago Pro, securing her third Olympia qualification.Looking ahead, Dr. Andrews envisions merging her passions for bodybuilding and medicine, planning to open her own practice.
