Philanthropic Artist of the YearAwarded By %u201cNEST Foundation in Hollywood%u201d It%u2019s no surprise then that given his philanthropic nature and devotion to giving back, Sir Daniel concerns himself with the struggles of humankind and utilizes his pursuit of excellence to create art that not only delights but encourages deeper reflection. By employing the use of color and light in objects that appear real and tangible yet also meld into the background and seemingly combust, the paintings come alive. Sir Daniel allows himself the freedom to play and discover meaning in chaos, to make sense out of disorder, and to find calm amidst the sea. Certainly not the first to explore the ebb and flow of chaos and order, fundamental principles in the human experience, Sir Daniel pulls from his own background and technical skills to create something utterly breathtaking and revolutionary. He adheres to the truth that often to understand a concept, it can be quite useful to examine it from the other side. Hence, to understand chaos one must muse upon the meaning of order. Serenity belies the turmoil swirling nearby. No dialogue concerning order versus chaos is complete without the discussion of time and time%u2019s inevitable pull on our psyches. Thus, clocks feature prominently throughout the series, showcasing society%u2019s pursuit of structure and stability. The measure of time is humankind%u2019s attempt to quantify our days, track our progress, and fit our experiences within certain frameworks. Yet, as %u201cEctropy%u201d reveals, too much structure can stifle innovation, limit exploration, and generate conventional outcomes. Leaning into chaos, the realm of uncertainty, can present possibilities, new ideas, and result in great beauty. At first glance, his work in this series shatters any feelings of calm, as elements in one painting such as fire and smoke billow from the head, blending into the background in a sea of electric blue and orange hues. The masculine figure%u2019s stance with his hands in the pockets immediately invite feelings of relaxation and friendliness, but as the eye draws upward and is pulled magnetically towards the center and faceless head, affixed with a fiery clock, feelings of anxiousness ignite, and pressure intensifies.MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 40 15
