52 || FASHION MAGAZINE || NOV - DEC 2017order to achieve the perfect fit, at which point it is then made up for real. It%u2019s a process that feeds itself as you progress, but it also means that you have to be quite vigilant with staying on track and maintaining the critical path as otherwise you won%u2019t meet your deadlines. It can be stressful, but I%u2019ve learnt that life really isn%u2019t worth stressing and that stressing doesn%u2019t help achieve anything. I try and maintain a chilled out work environment but of course there are times that can be trying. You just have to take it one step at a time and remember the big picture.Often times we hear about fashion risk or stepping outside of the %u201con trend%u201d box, is that something you subscribe to or do you stay in your own creative lane? The Gomez-Gracia brand has a combination of things that may be considered %u2018risky%u2019, as well items that are more %u2018basic%u2019. Our focus is on making beautiful pieces that make women feel empowered, not about being on trend or being labelled a certain way. I do what feels right. When I tried to subscribe to doing things the way the fashion industry dictated, it didn%u2019t work. Ultimately we just want to do our own thing, enjoy the ride and dress fabulous women who appreciate what we do!Why is fabric choice so vital during the early stages of the creative process?Fabrics can make or break a design. You could have a beautifully made garment with an incredible fit, but if you use a cheap fabric, it will ruin it. We only work with quality fabrics that flatter women%u2019s bodies and are made from natural fibers. All of our garments are lined in silk, so they not only look gorgeous but feel it too. Aside from a fabrics composition and technical use, their appearance also helps set a garment apart. Gomez-Gracia uses quirky fabrics with interesting textures, allowing for edgy silhouettes.Allowing the work to speak for itself, what do you think your creations say?I am woman, hear me roar!If you could extend one piece of fashion advice to our readers, what would it be?March to the beat of your own drum, but do it with style and class.
