There are usually three primary roles when an AcroYoga practice is demonstrated. The base is the person who has the largest connection to the earth. Normally this person is lying down with their back to the ground. This allows both the arms and legs of the base to be %u201cbone-stacked%u201d for maximum stability and for support of the flyer. The main points of contact with the flyer are the feet and hands. The flyer is the person who is elevated off the ground by the base. The flyer can move into a series of poses, and normally lets gravity do the work. A flyer needs balance, confidence, and core strength. The third role is the spotter. This is the person who has a full view of the base and flyer, and their focus is on making sure that the flyer lands safely in case of any slips. The spotter can also make verbal adjustments to help the base and flyer improve their forms. These three roles work together in an AcroYoga practice. The most important aspect of this practice is TRUST. When you trust each other, each individual role only has to be present to executing their own role. So if you are looking to build trust with your friends, co-workers, family, or even your lover, developing an AcroYoga practice would be a great choice. Just make sure you have all three roles, especially a spotter!
