Hughes created such films as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller%u2019s Day Off, Home Alone, Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink. %u201cJohn loved to play and improvise, frequently with Mr. Candy. Multiple takes would go off the cuff, and the cast felt encouraged to do so. I think Mr. Hughes had a very sensitive ear for honesty, combined with a great sense of humor and a big heart%u2026what a combination.%u201d
