As Sanya puts it, %u201cIn Olympic years you find so much more of yourself to give.%u201dSanya is excited to defend the title she gained in 2012 as the fastest in the world at the 2016 Olympics. However, only one woman in history has managed the near impossible feat of winning backto-back gold medals in the 400m. Her name is Marie-Jose Perec of France, a woman who Sanya has respected and admired her entire career. %u201cTo be in this position to do something that Marie did is amazing for me.%u201d To do her best in 2016, Sanya is preparing by running excellent races and gaining confidence. Sanya explains, %u201cWhen you have that confidence you can execute a perfect race. In my best races for the last 100-meters, I feel like I have a lot left in the tank which allows me to attack and sprint home.%u201d Sanya pointed out that most athletes run their fastest time in the 400m when they are thirty or thirty-one years old, as she will be thirtyone next year and feels mentally and physically ready to run very well. Concluding the interview, Sanya conveys that she is simply a woman who loves life, people, and hopes to share her experiences on and off the track with others.
