She enrolls in as many acting classes as she could handle, about fifteen hours a week, similar to the number of college classes she used to take. Knowing she had to be on the same level as her competition, having decided to pursue this dream so late in the game, %u201cI had a lot of time to make up.%u201de talked to the actress about some of the misconceptions she encountered during the early stages of her career. She notes that the largest misconception is %u201cthere is no certain way to do it; there is no manual or any step by step plan or instructions, anywhere.%u201d She compares it to pursuing medicine where you have schooling, set curriculum, residency , etc., in this case, you are making it up as you go. %u201cIt is a very independent career, where you are responsible for yourself as far as enhancing your craft and landing jobs your agent sends you out on, after of course you land the agent!%u201d In a frank admission, she recalls her parent%u2019s reaction to her leaving school. %u201cMy parents hated that I dropped out, having earned a full ride scholarship to UT.%u201d The decision was hers to make, and she owed it to herself to pursue the life she wanted. Naturally there are doubts that remain still. %u201cGiving up is more heartbreaking to me than failing could ever be,%u201d the star poignantly states.The actress started taking notice of her nutritional and fitness needs when she started gaining weight after college. With swimming behind her, she was not nearly as active as she was while living on campus. She also found herself driving everywhere while living in LA In an industry that encourages you to be smaller; something had to change.
