MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 78 29MOSTMAGAZINE Q: YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY HAS BEEN FEATURED IN NUMEROUS INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINES AND COMPETITIONS. WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST DEFINING MOMENT OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR?A: A few years ago (I believe it was in 2018), there was a photo competition for Deutsche Vogue. I made it into the top 10 with my entry, which was an incredible achievement. In the end, I placed fourth, but the fact that a few of my pictures were printed made me quite proud%u2014especially since there was no commercial aspect to it. Q: YOU%u2019VE WORKED WITH MODELS, ACTORS, AND PRIVATE CLIENTS WORLDWIDE. HOW DO YOU ADAPT YOUR APPROACH DEPENDING ON THE SUBJECT IN FRONT OF YOUR LENS?A: I always try to approach the people in front of my camera in an open and relaxed way. A little personal conversation before the shoot is very important to me. I like to take the time for this because, if we haven%u2019t worked together before, it helps reduce tension or insecurity%u2014especially for newcomers. I strive to treat everyone in front of my camera the same way. Over the years, the excitement I used to feel before photographing well-known personalities has also diminished. Q: YOUR IMAGES OFTEN EVOKE A STRONG EMOTIONAL CONNECTION. WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE KEY TO CAPTURING AUTHENTIC MOMENTS IN PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY?A: As I mentioned in the last question, I believe trust is essential. Sometimes, it%u2019s simply a matter of waiting and, most importantly, taking your time during a shoot. Once the initial tension fades, great expressions naturally emerge.www.holgernitschke.com
