That feeling alone motivates me to work harder. Q: EARNING YOUR PRO CARD AT MASTERS NATIONALS IN 2019 AFTER ONLY THREE NATIONAL SHOWS IS A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT. WHAT WAS YOUR SECRET TO SUCCESS? A: Listen to your coach. Gather your feedback. Practice your posing until you can%u2019t get it wrong. And get lean! Q: WINNING YOUR FIRST OVERALL TITLE JUST TWO MONTHS LATER MUST HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLE. HOW DID YOU FEEL? A: That show was much bigger, with a larger class of competitors than in August, and I was nervous. I%u2019ve since learned not to compare myself backstage%u2014it doesn%u2019t matter. What matters is how you present yourself on stage. After winning my class, I had to run behind the curtain, take off my medal, and immediately line back up for overall comparisons. Stepping back on stage with two other class winners, I definitely felt out of my league. I remember posing and hearing my coach%u2019s husband yell, %u201cOpen up!%u201d (for my back pose), and that%u2019s when it hit me%u2014I was in the center. That last minute, waiting for them to announce the winner, felt like the longest of my life.I have a video of me coming off stage, where my coach and teammates were all crying and hugging me.
