The college I attended was just a few miles from my high school, and Boeing was a few miles away from that college. I never had a %u201cgoing away%u201d experience, but the thought of leaving kept echoing in the back of my mind.Oddly enough, around the time I really started feeling the itch to leave Boeing, Baz Luhrmann%u2019s song Everybody%u2019s Free (To Wear Sunscreen) was playing nonstop on the radio. There%u2019s a lot of great advice in that song, and although I had never been to either place, the parts about moving to New York City and Northern California resonated with me. After making a contact on the East Coast, I decided to pack up and take a chance.
