Q: You%u2019re set to star in Hulu%u2019s Paradise alongside some big names like Julianne Nicholson and James Marsden. Can you tell us about your role in the series and what we can expect from the show?A: I play Julianne%u2019s character%u2019s daughter, Hadley. It%u2019s a pretty small role, but I have some sweet scenes. I think this show is going to be really well-received; I%u2019m so excited to see how it turns out. You can expect a lot of plot twists and maybe some bloody hands!Q: What was it like working with Julianne Nicholson as your on-screen mother in Paradise?A: Working with Julianne gave me an aha moment about how technical and nuanced acting really is. She%u2019s such a skilled actor and made me realize that acting is something you can truly master. Not only does she do her job incredibly well, but she also knows how to make everyone else%u2019s jobs easier. I%u2019m so grateful I got to work with her, and I can%u2019t wait to see all the praise she%u2019ll get for Paradise.Q: As an actress who started out in comedy, what%u2019s been the biggest challenge transitioning into more serious, dramatic roles?A: The biggest difference I noticed between multicam and single-cam was the time it took to film a scene. On the multicam shows I%u2019ve been on, we could film a scene in 20 minutes. In a single-cam show, the same length scene can take two days. My first single-cam job after all the multicam shows really shocked me%u2014it%u2019s a whole different world.Q: You%u2019re currently balancing your acting career with being a student at UCLA. How do you manage to juggle both?A: I just take it day by day and try not to put too much pressure on myself. The professors have been really accommodating when I have to leave for filming. My education is very important to me, and I can%u2019t wait to have a degree from UCLA%u2026 That being said, I also prioritize acting 11/10 times, so sometimes school gets put on the back burner. I had to get over being a perfectionist and just do my best.Q: What was your experience like performing in a sketch comedy segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon?A: He was insanely good at his job. During rehearsal, I watched him rewrite the jokes to make them funnier as the teleprompter was rolling. Just watching him work was an incredible learning opportunity for me. He taught me that comedy is a craft, and it%u2019s something you can really master.Q: In addition to your acting, you%u2019re involved with St. Jude Children%u2019s Research Hospital. What motivated you to give back to such a cause?A: St. Jude Children%u2019s Research Hospital is a really beautiful organization. I%u2019m fortunate to be healthy and to be able to act and go to school, but I know that isn%u2019t everyone%u2019s reality. St. Jude allows me to work with their kids and raise money for children in their hospitals.Q: With several high-profile projects on the horizon, what excites you most about your future in Hollywood, and what are some goals you have for your career?A: What excites me most is growing as a performer and getting to play more challenging roles. It%u2019s fun to learn new skills for roles that I wouldn%u2019t have learned otherwise. Acting is such a unique job in that way. It might take some time, but I want to be on SNL at least once%u2014that%u2019s probably my biggest goal. This is me putting it out into the universe! There are so many other things I want to do so I am excited to see what%u2019s to come.IG: @kategodfreyTiktok: @kateggodfreyMOSTMAGAZINEMOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 64 31
