What inspired you to start competing in the first place?A. I was a gymnast and dancer from the age of 5. I competed as a gymnast and was on the dance/drill team throughout high school. I loved the thrill of competition, and when high school ended, I felt a void. I tried a bodybuilding competition but realized my physique wasn%u2019t muscular enough. A friend suggested I try fitness competitions, which were perfect for me since they allowed me to incorporate my dance and gymnastics background. It fulfilled my love of being on stage.Q: Earning an IFBB fitness pro card is a huge achievement. Can you tell us what that moment meant to you, and how it shaped your career?A. The ultimate goal for an amateur fitness competitor is to earn a pro card. I competed for a few years, continually improving my routine and physique, and was incredibly proud to win the USA Nationals in Las Vegas. Coincidentally, I received my pro card on my birthday. Competing at the professional level was amazing, and I was honored to be invited to the Fitness International (the Arnold Classic) in my rookie year. Sharing the stage with incredible athletes like Adela Garcia, Susie Curry, and Jen Hendershott was an unforgettable experience!Q: Your expertise has been featured on popular TV shows like Dr. Phil%u2019s Ultimate Weight Loss Race and Extreme Makeover. How did those experiences influence your passion for helping others?A. Being a personal trainer on Dr. Phil%u2019s Ultimate Weight Loss Race was an incredible experience. We traveled across the country, competing in weight loss challenges and fun events, but the best part was the connection I made with my team. Many participants had little experience with working out. Similarly, on Extreme Makeover, I worked with people facing time constraints and surgeries. These experiences taught me that I could push my own clients, who faced fewer obstacles, even harder to achieve their goals. It deepened my passion for helping others transform their lives through fitness.MOSTMAGAZINE26 MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 63
