Q: Can you share a memorable photoshoot experience and why it stands out to you?A: My most memorable shoot was my first ever fitness shoot with a trainer named Sammi during the first lockdown. I reached out to people on Instagram to build my network and portfolio, and Sammi was happy to trust me and jump in.I was nervous, wanting to deliver my best. Despite my inexperience, the energy and connection were incredible. We created amazing shots, and that experience solidified my passion for fitness photography. Looking back, my work has evolved, but that shoot remains special because it was the beginning of my journey. The genuine connection and excitement of that first shoot set the foundation for everything I do now.Q: How do you prepare for a fitness photoshoot to ensure you capture the best possible images?A: I usually improvise and go with the flow. I don%u2019t plan much but commit to giving it all I%u2019ve got. Sometimes I do my research and thinking if needed. In most cases, I show up without expectations and let the photoshoot unfold as we go along. It%u2019s important to connect with the client and let our creativity flow together. This approach helps me capture their true essence. I believe spontaneity allows for genuine moments to shine through in the photos. By focusing on the energy and connection with the client, I create a comfortable atmosphere where their personality and strength naturally come forward. However, to keep my work consistent, there are a few preplanned poses or lighting techniques that I keep from shoot to shoot, as I know some techniques work for everyone.Q: Can you share a memorable photoshoot experience and why it stands out to you?A: My most memorable shoot was my first ever fitness shoot with a trainer named Sammi during the first lockdown. I reached out to people on Instagram to build my network and portfolio, and Sammi was happy to trust me and jump in.Q: How do you establish rapport with your clients to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera?A: It starts before the photoshoot. I always have a personal conversation with the client, explaining what to expect and how to prepare. They receive an e-book and a welcome video that answers all of their questions and prepares them for the day. By the time we meet, they already feel comfortable with me. During the shoot, I create a safe, intimate space where they can relax and enjoy the moment. Within 10 minutes, they%u2019re usually at ease and natural in front of the camera. I encourage them to let go, have fun, and be themselves.Q: What techniques do you use to capture the essence of strength and beauty in your fitness photography?A: Capturing strength and beauty comes down to three things: lighting, posing, and personality. Lighting is key for creating the right look. Posing helps showcase the client%u2019s physique, and it varies based on their personality. The goal is to highlight their unique strengths and beauty. For example, I adapt poses to match the client%u2019s energy, whether it%u2019s a strong, masculine vibe or a softer, feminine one. However, I do push people out of their comfort zones, trying things they might not initially feel comfortable with, because sometimes that%u2019s where the true gold is found.Q: What role does lighting play in your photography, and how do you utilize it to enhance your images?A: Lighting is everything in my photography. My approach to lighting%u2014positioning, distance, power, colors, and gels%u2014sets my work apart. I shoot with post-editing in mind, ensuring my lighting enhances the final image through editing and color grading. This deliberate method allows me to create striking, dynamic images.12 MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 51
