Q: What role does fitness play in your daily routine and overall well-being?Fitness plays a crucial role in my daily routine and overall well-being. I prioritize physical activity as an essential part of my day, as it not only keeps me physically fit but also contributes to my mental and emotional well-being. Engaging in regular exercise helps me manage stress, improve my mood, and boost my energy levels, allowing me to approach each day with a clear and focused mind. In addition to the physical benefits, staying active also promotes discipline and consistency in my daily life. Whether it%u2019s through regular workouts, outdoor activities, or sports, I find that maintaining an active lifestyle helps me stay motivated, disciplined, and resilient in the face of challenges. Overall, fitness is a cornerstone of my well-being, providing me with the strength and vitality to tackle daily tasks and pursue my personal and professional goals with determination.Q: Can you share some of your daily workout routine? With the guidance of an amazing fitness coach (Nicole Arseneau @Innerstrong Fitness) and by prioritizing consistency in my workout routine, I%u2019ve discovered that focusing on weight training instead of intense cardio sessions has had the most significant impact on my body. Additionally, I%u2019ve learned the importance of fueling my body properly. I found that I didn%u2019t have to restrict my diet to lose weight; instead, it was about balancing the proper macros to fuel my body for building lean muscle, with protein being the most important. I%u2019ve come to realize that consistency is key, and simply making an effort to move my body every day has made a difference.Q: What are some misconceptions people have about the role of a 911 dispatcher?It%u2019s time to dispel the misconceptions about the crucial role of a 911 dispatcher. My experience as a 911 emergency medical dispatcher has taught me the crucial role that dispatchers play as the %u201cFirst 1st Responders%u201d in emergency situations. When someone calls 911 for help, we are the first link in the chain of survival, providing life-saving measures to callers and dealing with the most chaotic first reactions to emergency situations. Too often, we are unfairly labeled as glorified receptionists or overpaid government/civil service workers. But the reality is far from that image.Picture a dedicated emergency medical dispatcher, tirelessly answering 911 calls and saving lives. It%u2019s time to recognize and appreciate the vital work we do. Beyond simply answering multiple phone lines and dispatching life-saving resources, we tackle each day with unwavering commitment, often in the face of severe understaffing. Our work is complex, demanding, and essential to emergency response and public safety. As first responders, we are at the forefront, making split-second decisions and providing crucial instructions that can mean the difference between life and death. This understanding has driven me to advocate for better recognition and support for the invaluable work of 911 dispatchers, as we are the backbone of emergency response systems. Q: What message do you hope to convey through your fitness journey and activism?Through my fitness journey and activism, I strive to convey the powerful message that determination and consistency can lead to incredible transformations. My experiences as a 911 emergency medical dispatcher, a cancer survivor, a mother of two, a fitness advocate and a passionate labour activist have taught me that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Consistency is key in both fitness and activism, and it%u2019s through unwavering dedication and perseverance that we can make a meaningful impact on the world around us. I believe in standing up for what you believe in and advocating for positive change, whether it%u2019s in the realm of public health, workers%u2019 rights, or creating an inclusive fitness community. My journey has shown me that by prioritizing physical and mental well-being, and by advocating for equality, diversity, and support for essential workers, we can inspire others to embrace their full potential and create a more compassionate and equitable world. I hope to inspire others to believe in their ability to effect change, to prioritize their own well-being, and to stand up for the causes they are passionate about. Remember, you can do anything you put your mind to, and by staying consistent and standing up for what you believe in, you can make a meaningful impact on the world.MOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 49 87
