Q: How would you describe your photographic style?A: Through the use of Photoshop and mixed media embellishment, I aim to push the boundaries of both the photographic and fine art genres. By provoking the study of emotion through confrontation, I strive to foster a new realm of self-realization and acceptance for viewers.Q: What inspires your work, and how do you stay inspired?A: Art was my calling. The human experience as a whole inspires me%u2014what we see, what we feel, and how we move through phases in our lives. Loss, pain, and triumph are pathways to growth. I seek to infuse the global emotion of the human experience into a piece that is communally felt. Art is a connector, especially when words fail us. Using these concepts as guidelines to construct form, color, concept, and depth is a delicate but truly rewarding path for me.Q: What first sparked your interest in photography?A: I have always been involved in art. I started sketching and making clay sculptures when I was very young and graduated to painting in oil in high school. I loved the complexity of oil and the possibilities of texture and emotion; creating something that moves people, especially when it brings attention to something dark that most people would shy away from. In darkness, we appreciate the light. We find each other, and we find ourselves.Q: What subjects do you enjoy photographing the most, and why?A: My current work delves into the depths of the human experience through surreal compositions. Combining my background in social work, trauma, psychological studies, and art, I feel my imagery elicits powerful stories of darkness, struggle, hope, and connection.Q: Name one of your projects that aimed to raise awareness or has a social impact.A: I created %u201cVulnerable%u201d to address the difficulty of vulnerability. We often build walls and destroy our comfort in the name of protection. But I needed to ask: Are we really protected from vulnerability, or are we simply alone, afraid, and armed?Q: Tell us about your upcoming projects.A: The first piece in my new series, %u201cMaintaining Balance,%u201d aims to display the power and fragility of women in society. We are bound by so many things, weighted down, lifting up, and balanced on an impossible edge while the world flies around us. It%u2019s a beautiful dance to watch, but the struggle of maintaining that balance is incredibly wearing.Q: What motivates you to keep pushing your boundaries in photography?A: We are all part of the human experience, and I am excited to create something that matters to people and makes difficult things easier to discuss.Q: What are your future goals and aspirations in photography?A: Moving forward, I want to continue creating impactful work. Whether through fine art galleries, photo competitions, or wherever my skills lead me, I hope my work brings connection, confrontation, inspiration, and healing to those who view it.Exclusive Interview By: Kyle MeisterMOST MAGAZINE - ISSUE 48 31
