www.MOSTmag.com || MOST FITNESS || 13MFM: What do you miss most about playing organized sports and being part of something?HD: The thing that I miss the most is having a set schedule; it%u2019s crazy as a model. You don%u2019t get up and go to work every day, but every other day we do casting and shoots, but it%u2019s not a set schedule. Myself, Heather, I become a better person when I have a set schedule knowing that I%u2019m going to see those same people and have those set relationships. I really do; life feels more calm and organized with set relationships, like you have in sports, college, or in a regular job, like just having a normal sense of coming home and eating dinner. Some days I go about my day, and I%u2019m like what did I even accomplish today?! But it is a very free life, of course, my life as a model. You have a very free life-you can be as busy as you want to be.MFM: Congrats on your recent Playboy Cover in September! What was your favorite part of that shoot?HD: Thank you! I%u2019m hoping to shoot with them again in the non-nude section of the magazine. It was actually kind of cool to be the second to last nude cover since Playboy is going to stop doing nudes. Josh Ryan was the photographer, and he and I have been friends for a long time. He has been talking about me shooting the Playboy cover ever since he%u2019s been working with them. They%u2019ve been using Josh to re-up the magazine and go from, I don%u2019t want to say blonde bimbos, but go to more of a fashion magazine instead of that kind of magazine. Josh really created a more elegant theme, and made the magazine more edgy and more fashionable with its covers and spreads. So I think the best part was that they asked me to choose my hair stylist, and so I got to use my GUESS hairstylist. Josh was my friend, and the stylist was my friend; so it felt literally like I was shooting a regular day just off with my friends, but of course at a much higher stage. There were a million people there, with crazy lights, and it was obviously more special than a regular shoot. It was just really a lot of fun.MFM: It is very fitness inspired-were you involved in coming up with the various sports concepts?HD: That%u2019s also why I agreed to it. Josh and I talked about what I liked and what I would feel comfortable doing. And what I didn%u2019t want to do was to be in lingerie and pearls with French doors and being that Playboy model in a clich%u00e9 of a scene. Josh knew that I%u2019m athletic and created this whole scene/theme of it being athletic and sexy, and I was SO down for that. MFM: How did you first get your start as a model? Was this always something you wanted/planned to do?HD: When I was growing up, even from a young age, my mom was always being told by strangers, she is so pretty-she should do modeling. So when I was younger, they put me in little commercials and stuff like that, but later it got to be too much for my parents as they were both teachers and middle class and had to work full time. So with three girls all doing activities, they couldn%u2019t keep us in everything. I was also in gymnastics full time, for about four hours a day, but then when I got too tall, I started doing volleyball and basketball which I also did all throughout college. In high school I wanted to model, but I was so busy with sports that I couldn%u2019t do it at the time. After graduating high school, my parents said to get your BA degree first, then go model and do what you want to do. My dad is the Vice President of San Diego Christian College, and that%u2019s where I attended; and after graduating in 2010, I came up to LA and just started knocking on doors.
