www.MOSTmag.com || FITNESS MAG A ZINE || 41MFM: What led you to a life in fitness?MG: I have always been very athletic and played sports since I was five years old. I started in gymnastics when I was five and moved to figure skating when I was about eight years old. I wanted to go to the Olympics when I turned 16, and that was my ultimate dream. However, when I was 14, I hurt my ankle and couldn%u2019t skate for couple of months. When I got better, I went with my friend to try out Taekwondo, and I was completely hooked after one training! After many years of training and competing in Taekwondo, I felt I needed a change. I had been interested in competing in fitness for some time but never had the guts to go for it. In 2011 I went through a very hard time in my life. I was extremely sick and had been for some time. At my worst I was 47 kg. I was hospitalized for almost 2 months and got the help I needed. After those 2 months, I was inspired to get into shape. I was so skinny and weak still. I remember going to the gym for the first time and feeling pretty insecure. I saw a lot of beautiful and athletic girls at the gym that were lifting much heavier weights than me. I could barely bench press 10 kg!! After about two weeks at the gym, I felt stronger, and I was able to lift a little bit heavier weights. It made me feel so good and boosted my self-esteem; I wanted to go further with this new passion of mine. Photo Credit: Lalli Sig | www.larus.is
