www.MOSTmag.com || FITNESS MAG A ZINE || 117Yoga was also introduced to the U.S by a man named, Krishnamacharya and a lot of our influential teachers today are still men. Since men have had such a huge impact in the world of yoga, I wanted this column to also honor and represent men today. With that being said; every other month we will feature one of my dearest friends, Sid McNairy IV in the Posture of the Month. Sid, also known as Sid 4 Freedom has been a great inspiration to me as well as many others in the yoga community. This month we are going to shine the spot light on Sid so that our readers get to know him and the impact yoga has had on his life.Sid is the oldest son of Sid McNairy, owner of Sid Yoga Center. He has been practicing yoga since the age of 8 years old. When asked what inspired him to come up with the name Sid 4 Freedom, he said %u201c what inspired Sid 4 Freedom is the first part of the name because I am Sid the 4th generation in my family. The freedom part comes from when I made the choice from playing college football to teaching yoga full time, I gained a new ability to go and see the world. A lot of time opened up and for me, in my eye%u2019s that was complete freedom. Something I never had just because I was always on a clock schedule and always working to be a better athlete. Which was a great part of my life because I learned a lot from being a football player, I just felt like it was that time to move forward and create some free space in my life%u201d.CM: Tell us how you first got into yoga?Sid: I first got into yoga when I was in high school and wanted to start working. My dad told me that I wasn%u2019t going to make money the way I wanted to make money unless I started teaching yoga. So in my mind I thought that was the only way for me and I decided to go through Teacher Training.CM: How has yoga changed your life?Sid: Yoga changed my life in a lot of ways, probably the biggest way was learning awareness. I use to be angry and get in fights with my brother, so the biggest shift for me was to become aware of it because I didn%u2019t even realize I was doing it. Once I became aware of the anger, I could bring forward something new that resembled the love that I actually am.CM: As a teacher what do you bring forth and deliver in your classes?Sid: I feel I bring forth renewal and a lot of energy that allows students to grow and continue to grow in every single class.CM: If someone comes to your class for the first time or the hundredth time, what do you feel like they would leave with?Sid: I feel that if a student comes to my class they are going to leave, for one feeling refreshed from whatever is going on in their life. We have a lot of challenges and with whatever they are going through, just having the ability to let go and be okay with what is happening. Also, on top of leaving refreshed from their daily lives they will also leave being inspired. I know that they will feel inspired by just being pure and authentic. By: Crystal Milana
