38 || FITNESS MAGAZINE || JUNE 2015 || EDITION 2Tosca Reno is the reason we interview. I spent hours preparing for our interview, learning everything about her, but after a nearly two-hour interview, I was really beginning to know her. She graciously and candidly spoke with me. She is powerful, honest, intelligent, and inspiring. My goal for you is to get to know her, too. Tosca is a successful author, fitness model, and motivational speaker. She is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Yes, she is pretty, sexy, blonde, Canadian, blah, blah, blah; truly she is a sweetheart. But, all of these wonderful attributes cannot cover up the tragedies, challenges, and traumas in her life. She speaks honestly about them. She hopes that someone will benefit by hearing her journey and she is beginning to realize how the honesty of her telling will also help her to heal. Tosca is the successful author of a line of books based on a clean-eating technique, %u201cEatClean Diet%u00ae%u201d. She has marketed %u201cEat-Clean%u00ae%u201d into a successful brand of products. Her programs work, not only because of Reno%u2019s entrepreneurship, but because they are based on her knowledge as a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Tosca has also transformed her once over-weight body into a fitness model body. She is also a motivational speaker and blogger on her website and other national publications. All of her accomplishments and successes shine even greater when considering the punches she has taken right to the gut along her journey. I do not want this article to be a tragic life story, but I cannot make it clear the extent of her success without at least taking a look at the things Reno has been crushed by along the way. It is also important to look at the punches so that we all may learn to duck if the swing were to come our way. Tosca was born of Dutch immigrants who lived in Nazi-occupied Holland. She grew up in a strict Catholic home. She felt her home was an abusive environment. Then, maybe predictably, she went into an abusive marriage. She has a life-long habit of taking care of others and being the best supporter for everyone in her life. Taking care of herself and honoring herself are things she is learning to do, as we all are, hopefully. Unfortunately, we do not always realize we are stepping from one bad situation to another, not until we have come to a crisis point in our lives or maybe that moment when a trusted friend has been honest. Tosca married again. Her second husband, Robert Kennedy was a good person, eager to please, a husband she was able to build her career with. Together, under his publishing company, Robert Kennedy Publishing, under the masthead of Canusa, Tosca built her %u201cEat-Clean Diet%u00ae%u201d. Robert was charming, he ran the publishing company and Reno continued to write books. %u201cI worked my butt off on my books; they were universally successful with 25 million dollars in sales.%u201d It was a great %u201cjoint%u201d venture. Along with publishing %u201cEat-Clean%u00ae%u201d books, Robert was publishing fitness magazines, Clean Eating, Oxygen, Muscle Mag International, By Kelly Price
