Did you know a Swiss doctor first started using it for rehabilitation? Probably not, but you may have heard it referred to as a Swiss ball before? Now you know why. Regardless, it is an invaluable tool for helping us get into shapeMeaghan Trainor sings %u201cI%u2019m all %u2018bout that bass.%u201d Well I%u2019m all about that core! Like the foundation of your house, your core is the support system for your body. It%u2019s your central source of power and necessary for efficient movement. Working on the fitness ball helps develop and strengthen your core muscles. Too often people forget to train what I call the accessory muscles, concentrating on big muscle groups like the chest, back or biceps. That%u2019s okay, but would a woman go out in a brand new outfit without her accessories? I don%u2019t think so. The same goes for your body. Training with a fitness ball can help you work on your major muscle groups AND the accessory muscle groups found at major joints and around your spine, hips and shoulders. This helps prevent injury while creating explosive movements and giving us the best looking physique. By: Jessica Jessie, MCPTPhoto Credit: DCProStudio
