www.MOSTmag.com || FASHIO N MAG A ZINE || 95FMM: Everyone knows the name of a brand is a key factor to its success; What would you want your name change - from Party Time Formals to Rachel Allan - to say about your brand & what it represents?RA: The Rachel Allan label represents innovative fashion trend styling, quality craftsmanship, exceptional fit and an attention to detail, including beading, sequins and embroidery, all designed to enhance every stage and lifestyle of the contemporary woman.FMM: Your designs are stunning, as well as very unique; Are there any designers you are a fan of that you%u2019ve drawn inspiration from?RA: We tend to draw our inspiration from many designers but a few of our go to%u2019s are Zuhair Murad, Dany Tabet, and Micheal Costello.FMM: Does your personal style tend to match that of your designs, or do you keep it more casual during your personal downtime.RA: Our personal style tends to have some of the same characteristics as our designs, but we try to design for our target market rather than ourselves.FMM: How would you advise a girl to accessorize a Rachel Allan prom dress? Do you like to layer your jewelry or are you more minimalistic? RA: Almost all of our dresses have heavily beaded necklines; we tend to style it with bracelets and earrings.FMM: Speaking of accessories, are shoes, handbags or jewelry areas you%u2019ve considered expanding into in the future? RA: We%u2019ve considered expanding to other areas, but we probably will not in the near future.FMM: Another unique aspect of your collection I noticed is that your styles are identified by numbers rather than names; What inspired this choice? Is it your way to improve customer service by simplifying the transaction for the buyers?RA: We have so many pieces in our line, it%u2019s easier to keep track of everything with numbers rather than names.FMM: Do you have a personal favorite from your collections, and if so which one?RA: We have 2 personal favorites from our prom collection. 6836:Magenta and 6832: PinkFMM. Did you opt for formal education in a fashion related field that led to your success?RA: Our design team has received degrees in fashion design.FMM: What would you consider your biggest achievement thus far in your career?RA: Re-branding to Rachel Allan.FMM: If you had to describe your brand as a whole, using one word, what word would it be?RA: FreshFMM: What are your top 5 must-have items in your carry-on bag when traveling? RA: Favorite shorts, favorite shirt, favorite shoes, a swimsuit, and a blanket. Just in case the plane crashes on a deserted island.FMM: What do you consider the most essential item in your closet? RA: The perfect pair of nude pumps.FMM: As style is a constant evolution, how would you say your designs have changed since you began in 1985? Are there any key elements that have remained the same throughout the years?RA: We have always had heavy beading, but the style, creativity, and quality has improved greatly.
